At Height Images Branding Case Study
Brief
At Height Images (AHI) provides aerial and commercial photography services. Their images and videos capture great shots at great heights. AHI wanted to have a brand with a clean aesthetic that would be easy to distinguish. A logo with geometric based forms and inclusion of text was preferred.
When starting this project, AHI didn’t have many ideas as to what they envisioned their brand to look like. We started by breaking down preferences between how they wanted their brand viewed. By curating a brand identity quiz, we were able to get a stronger view of how they envisioned their brand. We were able to confirm they preferred their brand to have the following characteristics: airy, clean, simple, minimal, and straightforward.
Brainstorming
After taking into account all of AHI’s preferences, the brainstorming began. Various sketches were made to explore silhouettes and forms that would help their logo stand out. Variations that were based on text, abstraction, and equipment-based elements were sketched out. Several options were presented to the client and three were chosen to be further refined as potential options.
Option 1 is inspired by the many pixels that make up the image capture. Strong geometric features and text inspired elements were included. The initial AHI can all be found with the triangle.
Option 2 is inspired by a camera lens and the text elements. The design has is simple but bold.
Option 3 is relies on a simple, minimalist style utilizing the company name as the primary focal point. The “AT” is skinny and tall in height meant to give a tall feel. The A resembles a mountain and the T resembles meeting at the top peak. This is a play on the tagline of reaching greater heights.
Final Draft of the Logo
The final drafts for the logo were chosen from options 2 and 3. The client like option 3 as a primary option that was bold, simple, minimal, and incorporated the name as the primary portion of the design. Option 2 was chosen as a secondary logo to be used as a more creative stand out option.
Brand Guide Development
A brand guide was developed to ensure consistent use of branding assets and to flush out additional needed branding assets. Usage rules for the logos, typefaces, video specs, and photo specs were identified to maintain top quality. The color system was chosen in collaboration with the client. Assets of the drone, flight path, and pattern were chosen for use in future projects that follow the minimalist and simple aesthetic of the brand. Lastly the business card was developed as a part of the package deal.
